Louisville Community Food Bank

The Louisville Community Food Bank (741 Jefferson Avenue, Louisville, Colorado) has been a community staple since 1960. Even then a need was recognized and became a mission of the Louisville Methodist Church. In the last 15 years, the Louisville community food bank has evolved into a community-wide not-for-profit outreach. All along the food bank has only been staffed by non-paid volunteers, who give their time and money to ensure people of the 80027 zip code receive supplemental assistance.

Funding for the Louisville Community Food Bank is totally by donations – Louisville Middle, Louisville Elementary and Fireside Elementary have been very generous in conducting food drives, even in a pandemic; Community Food Share, local businesses and private organizations, Whole Foods and individuals. There are no administrative costs; 100% of all donations go directly to food procurement and delivery. Louisville Police, Fire, Social Services and Senior Center all help with referring clients and delivery of food.

LCFB is open for clients every Tuesday, 9-noon. However, since March 2020, clients now drive, walk, bike up and volunteers bring a 35# bag of non-perishables out, fresh produce and baked goods donated by Whole Foods, a gallon of milk, eggs and 1-2 meat items. We also can provide gluten-free foods, cheese/yogurts, non-milk alternatives, specialty meats, baking items (flour and gluten free flours, sugars, soda, spices, etc).

No income means are asked, clients are welcome every Tuesday.
Four (4) times/year, boxes are packed for quarterly delivery to shut-ins.
